Earth One of the four classical elements (see Elements) Earth has probably the fewest transformative abilities associated with it, other than petrification. See also Land.
Ecchi Means "Sex" in Japanese. Adult only Japanese art and comics. Not much different than Hentai websites, but usually refers to nude pinup art, not sexual intercourse.
Echida From Greek mythology, Echida is the wife of Typhon, one of the Titans who fought the Greek Gods. She is portrayed as having the head of a beautiful nymph, and a body of a snake, looking rather like a Naga (she is sometimes refered to as a she-viper). Her offspring included the Nimean Lion, Cerebus, Ladon, Chimira, Sphinx and the Hydra.
Elements In classical terms, there are usually four elements: Air, Earth, Fire and Water. Each one tends to have their own guardians or creatures which draw their abilities from it. Each element has certain transformative abilities as well. (See entries for Air, Earth, Fire and Water) Other belief systems sometimes use five elements which are not always the "classic" four.
Emotions Emotions, particularly violent ones are often used as triggers for transformations. The prime modern example of course is Marvel Comic's classic "Incredible Hulk" where Bruce Banner would change into a green berzerker giant if he was unduly angry or alarmed.
Energy In transformational terms, energy beings are in a sort of non-solid state, and sometime have the ability to change their shape and assume material form. One of the earliest uses of this was Charleston Comic's "E-Man" who was a shape shifting superhero. People have been transformed into energy in fiction as well, usually in transporters or when being brought into cyberspace (see related entries).
Environment Environments cause transformations of a sort, although these are usually of a long-term nature. For instance, people who are born and live at higher elevations tend to develop larger lungs to handle the thinner air. People who get better food and medical care tend to get larger than those who do not. On the level of a whole population, such transformations take ages to take place, as in the case of birds losing their ability to fly due to a lack of predators. See also Evolution.
ES Shorthand for "Electronic Surgery" - ie, Photomanipulations.
Evolution 1. A transformation where one is rapidly evolved into a "futuristic" being that is stereotypically thin, bald, with a large head and eyes and a small mouth; or an entity of pure energy. 2. The disputed theory that species advance from less developed forms into more advanced forms to take advantage in changes in the environment, or their surroundings, ie, "Survival of the Fittest" or alternatively "Survival of the Sexiest" (See Survival). 3. Overall, if correct, a bad idea from the beginning as among humans the process has spawned greedy lawyers, religious zealots, irresponsible leaders, the internet, and a lot of generally mean people.
