Common Abbreviations

Furry Terms

Abbreviations

There are a large number of abbreviations in use on the web- so many that they rise and fall every day. Only a few remain in fairly constant use. This is a short list of the more common ones used by those into transformations, and approximately what they mean:
Term Definition
AI Shorthand for Artificial Intelligence in Science Fiction. Sadly natural intelligence is sometimes lacking as well.
AP Shorthand for Age Progression - People rapidly getting older.
AR Shorthand for Age Regression - People rapidly turning younger.
ASFR (?) Apparently shorthand for Android/Statue/Frozen/Robot or a website (apparently offline) Alt.Sex.Fetish.Robots.
AT Shorthand for Animal Transformation.
BE Breast Expansion, for those who like their women overly well endowed.
BM Shorthand for Body Manipulation
CG "Computer Graphics" or "Computer Gallery", CG is used as a term mainly on Japanese websites to denote picture galleries.
-Con Short for Conference. Combined with other words (AnthroCon, FurCon, etc) to denote real-world gatherings of fans for certain generes.
CYOC "Choose Your Own Change" - An online ADDventure style game at www.cyoc.net
DAE Medical shorthand for "double above elbow" ie, people who have lost most of their arms up to or just above the elbow. Usually applied to amputees.
DSD Medical Shorthand for "double shoulder disarticulate" - ie, people without arms. Usually applied to amputees.
FA (?) Fat Ass (Fat people)
FtM Shorthand for Female to Male transformation. See also, GC, TG, MtF.
ES Shorthand for "Electronic Surgery" - ie, Photomanipulations.
GC Shorthand for Gender Change. Used in cases where a male is transformed into a female, or a female is trandformed into a male. Also noted down as TG (Trans Gender)
GTS Shorthand for GianTesS - aka a giant female.
Herm Short for Hermaphrodite.
IT Inanimate Transformation.
Manip Shorthand for Photomanipulation.
MB Shorthand for Multiple Breasts
-Mon Shorthand in Japanese for "Monster". The most common variety are "Pokemon" (Pocket Monsters) and "Digimon" (Digital Monsters)
MtF Shorthand for Male to Female Transformation. See also GC, TG, FtM.
RPG Role Playing Game.
RUCT (?) Rarely Used Creatures in Transformation. A term coined by Jaggs for a contest for artists and writers to utilize less commonly used creatures for transformation (ie, insects, amphibians, mollusks, etc).
SD Shorthand for SuperDeformed.
SRU Shorthand for Spells 'R Us. This is sort of a shared online story concept created by Bill Hart that anyone can use, so there are many sites and story threads on the web based on or featuring this topic. It generally revolves around a bona-fide magic shop run by an old wizard who may assist, cause a magical mishap, or teach the visitors to his shop a lesson they will not forget. And should you happen to see an odd shop suddenly appear in you mall named "Spells 'R Us" please use caution and courtesy when you visit!
SW Shorthand for "Shrunken Women"
SWB 1. Shorthand for "Short Wheel Base" - ie, a car modified to ride lower than a production model. 2. In TF photomanipulations and art, it indicates a figure (usually female) whose head is closer to their legs than normal. Although this genere includes images with a reduced or compacted torsos, most "SWB" images are of a person with a head, their neck coming out of a waist, and legs - no arms or torso.
Taur Short for Centaur, the term is also used for a half human (from the waist up) with the lower body, complete with four legs of an animal of one's choice (ie, cattaur, wolftaur, etc) See also, Centaur, Chakat.
TF 1. Shorthand for TransFormation 2. Shorthand for "Team Fortress" and RPG game. 3. Shorthand for "Transformers" a robot cartoon show (See Transformers Entry)
TFC Shorthand for TF Central, a prime site to discuss Transformation topics. It is located at www.tfcentral.com.
TG Shorthand for TransGender Used in cases where a male is transformed into a female, or a female is trandformed into a male. Also noted down as GC (Gender Change) See also TS
TMNT Shorthand for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"
3D Shorthand for Three Dimensional. Usually refers to computer rendered art.
TS Definitions vary according to the group using it. 1) Shorthand for TranSsexual, TranSgender, ie, a person with both male and female attributes. (See also, Androgynous, Hermaphrodite) 2) Shorthand for Time Stop - a form of petrification where time stops for the victim, so they are like a statue made of flesh and bones.
TV 1. Shorthand for TransVestite. 2. Shorthand for TeleVision.
2D Shorthand for Two Dimensional. 1. Refers to 'traditional' hand drawn art. 2. Refers to a type of transformation where the subject is flattened out like a sheet of paper. See Flattening, Wringer.
UB UnBirthing. A return to the womb, either in adult, or in an age regression mode.
Vore Fantasizing about being eaten alive, usually whole. Not quite cannibalism, but close.
VR Shorthand for Virtual Reality
Yerf 1. A sound made by a fox. 2. A genere of "Squeeky Clean" Furry art and writing that has no sexual connotations whatsoever.
Yiff 1. Another sound made by a fox. 2. Furry sex. 3. To have sex with.
